Las Vegas Market donates home furnishings to charity

The Las Vegas Market got into the holiday spirit on Dec. 22 during Furniture Donation Day, an annual event that Las Vegas Market organizes to donate furniture, accessories and artwork to shelters and local families. This year, the furniture was donated to The Salvation Army and Opportunity Village, a non-profit group that helps people with disabilities. Major William Raihl, Clark County coordinator for The Salvation Army, said the furniture will be used to furnish apartments for low-income tenants and will also be used in the Salvation Army’s transitional housing complex and sold in thrift shops to raise money.

Opportunity Village plans to use the furniture to furnish the new Englestad Family Campus in Southwest Las Vegas, and the organization also plans to auction some of the furniture off to raise funds for the organization. It is always a joy to receive such quality gifts at any time, but especially at the end of the year when budgets are tight and replacement furnishings are hard to come by,” Raihl said. “It is a wonderful privilege for the Salvation Army to partner with the World Market Center Las Vegas. The furnishings will enhance our ability to provide services to those who need it most by helping us to have the necessary funds available.”
